UEFA Champions League 2025-2026 Quarter-Finals: First Leg Results

Real Madrid CF 1 – 2 FC Bayern Munich

German Bundesliga champions FC Bayern Munich defeated Real Madrid at Stade Santiago Bernabeu in the first leg of the 2025-26 Champions League quarter-finals. Goals from Luis Diaz and Harry Kane sealed a narrow 2 – 1 victory for the German champions, who host Real Madrid tomorrow at the Allianz Arena.

Bayern Munich looked in control of the tie from the kick-off, with a series of attacks being launched by the Bavarian forwards to neutralize any threat Real Madrid possesses, and to kill the tie in the first leg. Gnabry, Olise, Kane, and Diaz all looked in sublime form.

In the second half, however, Real Madrid looked threatening, with attacks coming from Mbappe and Vini Jr., but Manuel Neuer denied both of them with a colossal goalkeeping performance away from home. The Spanish club managed to score one goal as Trent’s pass curled in for Mbappe to score in the 74th minute of the game.

Vincent Kompany became the first manager in more than 14 years to defeat Real Madrid in Spain as Bayern’s manager.

Sporting CP 0 – 1 Arsenal

It was a big night for Viktor Gyokeres as the Swede headed to Sporting for the first time since moving to Arsenal last year from the Portuguese club. Arsenal were clearly the better team, leading the stats in terms of shots on goal, shots on target, possession, passes and pass accuracy, and most importantly, the number of corners taken.

The breakthrough came in added time after the 90-minute mark when the substitute Kai Havertz scored a crucial goal (assist: Martinelli) to give the Gunners an unassailable lead for the second leg at the Emirates.

FC Barcelona 0 – 2 Atlético Madrid

Camp Nou witnessed a drastic performance from the home team in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals 25-26 season against their Spanish counterparts in Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid, losing the tie 2 goals to nil before the away fixture at Metropolises this week.

Pau Cubarsi’s reckless tackle on Giuliano Simeone led to a red card for the Spanish center-half, with Julian Alvarez converting his free-kick from the spot to give Atleti the lead in the 45th minute of the game.

The second goal came in the second half when Sorloth scored in the 71st minute, putting the tie to bed for the Rojiblancos.

Paris St-Germain 2 – 0 Liverpool

The Golden Boy, Desire Doue, struck first for the Champions League winners in the 12th minute of the game, putting early pressure on Liverpool. PSG kept possession for most of the game, making Liverpool struggle to take the ball from the French side. With the second goal coming from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia with a peach of an assist from Joao Neves, the Parisians take a 2-goal advantage to Anfield with them this week.

2025-2026 UEFA Champions League Quarter-Finals Second Leg Predictions

Atlético Madrid vs FC Barcelona

A 2-goal deficit for FC Barcelona against Atlético Madrid is a tough challenge for Hansi Flick’s side, keeping in mind the way Simeone’s Atleti defends the ball, especially when he has claimed that he has a plan for the second leg against Barca. However, Hansi’s men will attack as if their lives depend on it, with the line being led by teen sensation Lamine Yamal in the absence of the captain, Raphina.

Liverpool vs Paris St-Germain

Liverpool is known for its famous comebacks, and Anfield is known for being the most tense atmosphere to play in, in a reverse fixture. Beating PSG will be difficult, keeping in mind the dip in Arne Slot’s team’s performance collectively this year compared to last season. However, you can not rule out Liverpool’s luck in home ties when the stakes are higher than ever.

FC Bayern Munich vs Real Madrid

With a narrow lead and Real Madrid’s luck and charm in Europe’s elitist competition, you can never count out the Spanish giants from this competition. Therefore, there is definitely room for a historic remontada. However, Bayern’s defense will prove to be clinical to win them the game at the Allianz Arena.

Arsenal vs Sporting CP

Arsenal sit in the driving seat of their quarter-final tie against Sporting, favorites for the semi-final spot. However, a one-goal lead against Sporting could prove to be fatal, with the Portuguese side famous for defeating Bodo in the Round of 16, coming behind from a 3-goal deficit in the second leg, to knock the Norwegian side out of the tournament. Overall, it will be a tactical battle between Arteta’s Arsenal and Sporting’s Rui Borges, with both teams fighting to win their respective national leagues this season.

Conclusion

Things are heating up in the UEFA Champions League season 2025-2026 as it heads to its conclusion before the World Cup in the United States this summer. With 8 teams left in the competition, 4 will be knocked out over the course of these 2 days. Who you got?
