This update has been more of a revelation than the latest news for fans of the show worldwide. 

Why did Netflix cancel Mindhunter?

There were several reasons that Netflix canceled the murder mystery thriller, Mindhunter. First and foremost, there was the budget. Netflix put in a good amount to produce the show, as it carried the themes from the 70s and 80s, but the return on investment wasn’t doing their production costs any justice.

Another reason for the show’s cancellation was Fincher’s reluctance to compromise on the quality of the show on a lower budget. With neither party meeting on a single page, it was best to halt the show’s production after the end of season 2.

While there has been little to no talk from the streaming service regarding investing in Mindhunter for a third season, the supporting lead on the show revealed some insights on how it could be brought back for a third season. 

Speaking to a reporter while at his movie premiere, Holt McCallany said, “I recently wrote a script that he(David Fincher) was kind enough to give me notes on. I know there are writers that are working(for Mindhunter season 3), but you know, David has to be happy with scripts.”

What Happened in Mindhunter Season 2?
