Ankalaev vs Pereira 2: Preview

When the two last met on March 8, no one would have thought Pereira would lose his title, that too by a unanimous decision. Ankalaev and Poatan went head-to-head; however, Ankalaev was strategically better than him, delivering significant strikes earlier in the fight, and then just absorbing the pressure in the later rounds.

Once the five rounds concluded, it was all up to the judges. With the judges’ scores reading 49-46, 48-47, 48-47, all in favour of the Russian, Ankalaev emerged victorious, winning the light heavyweight title from the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu artist.
