Moments after Islam Makhachev vacated his Lightweight belt to climb the ladder to the Welterweight division on May 13, Dana White announced that the championship would be on the line at UFC 317. 

The mentioned names going head-to-head for the belt were Charles Oliveira, the man who previously won the belt defeating Michael Chandler when it was vacated at UFC 262. The other name is the guy who jumped division himself in order to face Islam Makhachev, Ilia Topuria. 

The two are set to go face-to-face next week at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas over a bout that will last five rounds, each of 5 minutes. 

Apart from Oliveira vs Topuria, the fight card will feature Alexandre Pantoja vs Kai Kara-France for the former’s Flyweight championship. And after a beating suffered at the hands of Islam Makhachev at UFC 311 in January, filling in last moment for the unfit Arman Tsarukyan, Moicano makes his return to the Octagon to face Beneil Dariush.
